Cricket's three formats and the tournaments Bangladeshis love most

To do well at cricket betting, you first need to understand which rules apply to each format and how they affect the markets.

T20: This twenty-over format is the fastest. A single six or wicket can shift odds instantly. BPL and IPL are played in this format — both are the most talked-about cricket events of the year for Bangladeshi fans. Interest in betting on the national team runs even higher during the T20 World Cup.

ODI: This fifty-over format takes a bit longer, so there are more market options. Top Batsman, Total Runs, and First Wicket markets are especially popular in ODIs.

Test: In this five-day format, a draw is a possible result alongside a Match Winner — so you pick from three options. The pace of a Test match changes slowly, giving you more time to analyse before making a decision.

ICC international matches featuring the Bangladesh Tigers get special attention at t bajji. It is worth reading the market types and odds carefully for every match the national team plays.

Cricket alongside football and other sports — where is the difference?

At t bajji, you can bet on football as well as cricket. In football, the Match Winner market has three options — home win, draw, and away win. In limited-overs cricket there is generally no draw, so the odds structure is different.

Football sees more scoreline, goalscorer, and handicap markets. Cricket offers a different dimension with runs, wickets, and over-based markets. Multi bets are available in both sports, but it is important to understand the logic of each separately.

Popular cricket betting markets and what each one means

Understanding markets is not just about win or loss — picking the right market opens up new opportunities in every over.

Most familiar

Match Winner

Pick which of the two teams will win. In T20 and ODI there are only two options; in Test there are three. Example: you can place a bet on just this one selection — Team A to win.

Simple market

Toss Winner

A market on which team will win the toss before the match begins. The result does not depend on the main game, so it stands on its own. Example: Team B to win the toss.

Specialist market

Top Batsman

This determines who will score the most runs within a team. There is a separate market for each team. Example: top run-scorer for Team A.

Runs market

Total Runs Over/Under

You predict whether the total runs will be above or below a set number. Example: will the first innings score more than 160 runs? Pitch and weather conditions make this market interesting.

In-match market

First Wicket Over

A market on which over the first wicket will fall. Example: a wicket will fall within the first 6 overs. This market is most active at the start of the match.

Multiple markets

Multi Bet

Multiple selections are combined and their odds are multiplied together. Example: choosing three separate results across three matches returns a large payout if all are correct — but if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. See the odds section below for more detail.

t bajji guide to understanding odds formats

Decimal, Fractional and American — how to read odds formats

At t bajji, the same odds may be shown in three different formats — choose whichever you find easiest to read. The two examples below explain all three formats.

Example 1 — odds for one team to win (Team A)

Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125

On a ৳1,000 bet, if Team A wins you get back a total of ৳2,250 (৳1,250 profit + your original ৳1,000). If they lose, the ৳1,000 is gone. Decimal odds show the full return including your stake. Fractional odds show only the profit (for every 4 staked, you receive 5 back). American plus (+) means that amount of profit on a ৳100 bet.

Example 2 — odds for the favourite (Team B)

Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200

On a ৳1,000 bet, if Team B wins you get back ৳1,500 (৳500 profit). American minus (-) odds mean you need to stake that amount to earn ৳100 in profit — this is the mark of a favourite. Fractional 1/2 means for every 2 staked, you earn 1 in profit.

Multi bet example (three selections)

Three selections across three separate matches — decimal odds of 1.40, 1.70 and 1.80. Multiplied together, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.28 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳428 if all three are correct. If any one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost. Multi bets offer higher returns but carry higher risk.

Live betting during the match — odds change with every over

In live in-play betting, markets stay open after the match has started and odds shift with every event. In cricket this is especially active — a single six or wicket can change the situation in an instant.

Suppose no wickets have fallen in the first 10 overs and Team A has scored well. In that situation, Team A's odds to win will drop and Team B's odds will rise. Conversely, if three wickets fall in the powerplay, the bowling team's odds jump up immediately.

A few things to keep in mind with live betting:

  • Odds move very fast — if you take a little too long to decide, the odds may no longer be what they were.
  • Markets can be suspended in-play — they may temporarily close at the moment of a wicket or during a DRS review.
  • Tracking the run rate against the score and overs can help you read the likely direction of the next over.
  • Reading the flow of the match before placing in-play bets is the core approach to live betting — but keep in mind it is a form of entertainment, not a guaranteed source of income.

How live betting works

  • When a wicket falls, the odds for the team that is behind rise
  • During a big partnership, the batting team's odds drop
  • Odds move quickly when the run rate shifts in the death overs
  • Markets may be temporarily suspended during a wicket or a review
  • The t bajji app shows live scores and markets together

A few useful tips for cricket betting

Betting is primarily a form of entertainment. The tips below will help you enjoy cricket betting more consciously.

  • Set a budget. Decide in advance the maximum amount you will put into betting this week and stick to that limit.
  • Choose markets with understanding. Match Winner is straightforward, but markets like Top Batsman or Series Result are better chosen after you understand them.
  • Do not spread across too many markets at once. In the beginning, focus on two or three familiar markets. Multi bets may offer attractive returns, but the risk rises in step with them.
  • No rushing in live betting. Just because odds are shifting fast does not mean you must act immediately — keep a clear head and wait for the next opportunity.
  • Play responsibly. Betting is never a way to recover losses. For detailed guidance, visit our responsible gaming page.

Common questions about cricket betting

T20 is played over just twenty overs, so odds move quickly and live betting is more active. ODI gives more time, which means more room for analysis. In Test cricket, a draw is a separate result, so the Match Winner market has three options. The types of markets available also differ across each format.

Most markets are temporarily suspended the moment a wicket falls — especially if a DRS review is in progress. After a wicket, the batting team's odds generally drop and the bowling team's odds rise. Once the market reopens, you can join at the new odds.

No. In a multi bet, all selections must be correct to win — if any single selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost. For example, if three selections have decimal odds of 1.40, 1.70 and 1.80, the combined odds come to 4.28. A ৳100 bet returns ৳428 if all three are correct. Multi bets offer higher returns but carry equally higher risk.

Both BPL and IPL are played in T20 format, so fast odds movement is normal. These tournaments can have multiple matches in a single day — rather than joining many markets at once, it is wiser to pick matches involving teams you know well. Remember, betting is for entertainment — results are never guaranteed.

No, the Toss market is completely independent. Regardless of the match result, the Toss Winner market is settled only on which team wins the toss. There is no connection between the two markets. However, if you place a multi bet combining the toss and the Match Winner, both must be correct separately.
